Home Equity Loan Specialist

Ultimate Staffing Services is actively seeking an experienced Home Equity Loan Specialist to join their client's team in California. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and have a keen eye for detail in the realm of home equity loans.

Details:

  • Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am-5pm onsite in Scripps Ranch
  • 6 month contract
  • Wage $25/hr

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years previous FNMA/FHLMC processing experience.
  • Completion of registration with the NMLS (National Mortgage Licensing Registry) including a satisfactory result from a Federal-Level background check is required.
  • Knowledgeable in lending regulations to ensure compliance with Regulation Z, Regulation B, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, RESPA, CFPB compliance, KBYO, ATR, QM, HPML, HOEPA. Safe Act Registration: Mandatory license and compliance

Responsibilities:

Home Equity Loan Processing & Support

  • Handles inbound calls from customers regarding home equity loans.
  • Reviews title policies and resolves title and vesting issues.
  • Opens escrow and manages title-related documentation (e.g., subordination agreements, lien releases, payoff demands).
  • Reviews and prepares closing loan documents, including warranty deeds and tax forms.

Loan Application & Documentation

  • Assists members with loan applications and pre-qualification.
  • Analyzes applications for completeness and accuracy.
  • Verifies income, credit, tax returns, and other supporting documents.
  • Contacts members for required documents and communicates loan status.

Underwriting & Analysis

  • Evaluates debt-to-income ratios, loan-to-value, credit reports, and property valuation.
  • Prepares recommendations for loan approval or denial.
  • Addresses underwriter concerns and ensures compliance with lending standards.

Customer Service & Communication

  • Provides personalized guidance to members through the full loan cycle.
  • Explains loan programs, rates, and eligibility criteria.
  • Notifies members of loan decisions and responds to inquiries.

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensures accuracy and legality of loan documents.
  • Delivers required disclosures and meets regulatory deadlines.
  • Maintains compliance with internal policies and federal regulations (e.g., BSA).
  • Participates in training and helps develop new procedures.

General Support

  • Assists with phone queues and cross-functional duties.
  • Accesses valuation tools and property data as needed.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties and special projects as assigned.
